Oscar is a 41-year-old, born and raised Colombian filmmaker and computer engineer. After completing his engineering studies in Colombia, he pursued film directing in Prague, Czech Republic at Prague Film School and the Film and Television School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU).

His films are mostly dramatic but he also likes to venture into surrealism, experimenting with dream content and the unconscious mind. Among the directors he follows are Andrei Tarkovsky, Miloš Forman, Maya Deren, Michelangelo Antonioni, Vittorio de Sica, Ingmar Bergman, Federico Fellini, Roman Polanski, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Andrzej Wajda, David Lynch, to name a few.
He works with both digital and analog formats(Super 8mm & 16mm, Super 16mm), and is always involved in the editing process of all of his films. His brother, music composer Raúl Hurtado, colaborates with the soundtrack and score sections of each project. The thesis films Krasná neděle (Beautiful Sunday) and Já jsem Kuba! (I am Kuba!) were well received by both the academic faculties and the audience present during their screenings. He has also colaborated with fellow filmmakers and cinematographers in different projects as assistant director, editor and cinematographer.

His take on photography dates back to the teenage years, when traveling around the United States, he decided to photograph his journey with a small Nikon camera. Since then, he has moved to use the family's old Pentax K1000 and digital Canon EOS/Sony Alpha cameras. He's greatly influenced by the works of Ansel Adams, Man Ray, Alexander Hammid, Robert Doisneau, Robert Capa, Josef Sudek, Jan Saudek, Adolf Zika, continuously experimenting with patterns, textures, shapes, light and integrating old and new technology into the production of images. A collection of his photographs were part of the exhibition "VRBVS NATVRAE" portraying the urban landscape and environment in a series of cities around the world. The exhibiton took place in Prague at the Julio Cortázar Gallery.

Drawing and painting have always been means of expression since his early childhood years. Greatly influenced by Japanese Animation series, Russian and Czech animators like Yuri Norstein, Jiří Barta, Jiří Trnka, Jan Švankmajer and painters like Salvador Dali, Gustav Klimt and Alfons Mucha, Oscar prints in each project, dream memories and fantasy/erotic portraits.
